Gardens of heaven!

A photo of my painting 'Mahogany' had the honour of being adorned on an invite for a garden competition for schools in Delhi. What more could I want! It gives me a great feeling to be able to inspire nature with the very colours that were inspired by nature!

Mystery

Oil on canvas
3 by 2 feet

Size does matter and how! I have been working on bigger canvases of late and it's been quite liberating. At the same time it requires a whole lot of paint and a fair deal of energy. My pebeo paints are over. Have squeezed the last blobs out literally and if I do not make a trip to town the next weekend, I will have to resort to sketches. I do have a few sketches promised to friends and maybe that's not too bad an idea. I have been working on floral abstracts and haven't been to the florist for quite a while! Let me know how you like this!!!

L'affair avec wood

                  Marquetry - Oil on wood. 14x 12 "

Mahogany. Oil on wood with palette knives.
20x 16 inches.

My serendipitous foray into wood has spoilt me. After the two pieces of wood which came my way I attacked this piece stashed away from an AC repair job two years back. I gave vent to my wood withdrawal happily for this. My knives have finally met their match on wood. I can slash and flourish without worrying about cutting! Unlike canvas!
My new year has started with a new promise. Some new alliances and new avenues. Am excited and hoping to paint a lot this year!
Meanwhile if anyone wants to give me a gift you can pass any discarded pieces of wood my way.I'd be delighted!:)

Veneer

 Oil on wood .12 x 3 inches.(Asymmetric).

Someone's trash is someone's treasure! This piece of wood was a discarded piece in a house in Delhi . Wood work going into decorative renovation in the house was a boon for me! Whilst the owner raved about how the designs had to be crafted into the furniture, the artist in me couldn't resist but ask for discarded pieces if any! Managed to get two pieces come my way and here it is...a floral veneer for the wood. No other art supply has been flown in before .So no ordinary piece this!

I have been doing a bit of research on wood. This piece is hardboard is what I got to know. Also read that different artists have painted on wood using different ways. Am lucky that my work is impasto. THe surface is not too affected as I use such thick paste!

 :)
